On February 1, 1910, the Dutch Natural Stone Trader P.J.M. van Stokkum founded. Until the Seccond World War, only natural stone was traded. During the war, they started their own production in processing natural stone. The company name was changed to Van Stokkum N.V.
Since expansion in Rotterdam was not possible, in 1957 the Fa. Comuth-Nooteboom in Venlo acquired. Venlo was chosen because it was easy to export to Germany. Because the use of natural stone in non-residential construction in the Netherlands was on the rise, a new production hall and two block saws were installed in Venlo for sawing and processing natural stone for trade and non-residential construction.
In 1962, under the banner of ‘Verenigde Bedrijven Bredero NV in Utrecht’, the company was expanded with a drawing office and they started organizing the implementation themselves. From 1984 to 1994 the company became independent again. The demand in the Netherlands grew to such an extent that exports to Germany were stopped. Under the leadership of Mr Lei Schreurs, who led the company from 1994 to 2012, Van Stokkum focused on non-residential construction and the import of natural stone from all over the world.
